Entrepreneurship Development Cell

An Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) Udyojakata, was inaugurated at Banur on 12 Sep at Swami Vivekanand Group of Institutions (SVGOI)

Udyojakata is first of its kind project, which is devoted to all aspects of Entrepreneurship like Rural Entrepreneurship, Women Entrepreneurship and "Technology Entrepreneurship." EDC will support innovators as they conceptualize, develop, launch and commercialize their ideas. Rural entrepreneurship development in nearby rural areas will be the special focus of the project.

First event of the day:

An advisory committee meeting was held in Board room. Advisory committee members gave their opinions to bring Entrepreneurial culture in campus. The programme was chaired by the Chairman, SVGOI, Sh. Ashwani Garg, President SVGOI Sh Ashok Garg, Director General Ms Aruna Bhardhwaj along with the members of Advisory Committee of EDC.

Second event of the day:
Formal inauguration ceremony was held in Auditorium. A training programme to mark the occasion was attended by delegates from all walks of life.Welcoming the participants, Ms. Aruna Bhardhwaj emphasized on the active role of teachers in motivating the youth in taking up their own entrepreneurial ventures along with changing the mindset of the people of the region towards an entrepreneurial culture. She said, this unique EDC program will push the youth and encourage them to grow fast, and to grow smart. “The entrepreneurs will receive training from our advisory committee and experts, introduction to investors and unlimited resources to help move their startup forward”, she added. Technical sessions on entrepreneurship were held for the participants. These sessions were taken by many renowned resource persons from different institutions and sectors. Among others prominent who spoke on the occasion, included, Dr. S K Dhamija (Head, EDIC, NITTTR, Chandigarh), Mr. Vivek Atray (Former IAS Haryana), and Mr. Anil Jnanji (Ex Sr.Manager, PTL, Mohali). The speakers shared their valuable views on entrepreneurship development. They provided industry insights, shared experiences and motivated the students in becoming entrepreneurs of future. Inspirational talks by eminent personalities were followed by Q & A session with the audience and distinguished guests.

Third event of the day:
The program ended with an expert talk by Dr. Shankar Goenka (Country Head-WOW Factors, New Delhi), on ‘Transition to Professional Life’. It was attended by around 500 students of SVGOI.

The objectives set forth for Udyojakata (EDC) were

  • To bring Entrepreneurial culture in SVGOI
  • To help students in forming Startups.
  • To conduct regular Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps for Students
  • To establish Technical Business Incubator in SVIET.
  • To conduct FDPs on various aspects of Entrepreneurship for Faculty of Region
  • To do outreach activities for youth of region.
  • To organize National conference on Entrepreneurship to nurture research in Entrepreneurship
  • To conduct Rural Entrepreneurship Awareness camps in nearby Villages
  • To conduct Women Entrepreneurship Development Programs for North India region
