Program Overview

SVIET aims to encourage research and innovation in Computer Science Engineering and allied areas. The objective of the M.Tech. Program in Computer Science Engineering is to give great opportunities for research and development, as everyday consumers need new devices to support them in daily life. The department prepares the students in such a manner so that they can explore their scientific temperament and come out with novel ideas that can be further put into practice to achieve matchless results. Under the banner of M. Tech CSE, the students are taught advanced theoretical and practical postulates of Computer Science. As B.Tech. has already instilled the principles of CSE, this superior level polishes them and challenges the overall understanding of the students. In short, it pushes the students to the limits.

Scope of Course

There are numerous opportunities for candidates after completing M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering. Candidates can find job opportunities in both private and public sector firms. They can find a lot of job openings in the software sector.

Aspirants can find many opportunities in the public sector. Many public sector firms recruit candidates with M.Tech. in Computer Science Engineering. Some of these companies are ONGC, ISRO, BHEL, ECIL, DRDL, SAIL, etc. They can also appear for various competitive exams like public sector bank tests, UPSC, SSC, etc. Aspirants who are interested in teaching can take up jobs in various government colleges. 

There are huge openings in the private sector for candidates in computer science engineering. They can find job openings in companies like Infosys, TCS, IBM, Wipro, HCL, Accenture, etc. They can find many job opportunities abroad as well.

Eligibility:

(a) All those candidates who have passed B.E/B.Tech with atleast 50%(45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) marks in aggregate and with valid GATE Score shall be eligible to apply for Post graduate level M.Tech Course.

(b) Admission for 85% Seats for resident of Punjab and 15% seates for outsiders shall be made strictly on the basis of valid Gate score and in case seats haven’t been filled under respective categories, admission shall be considered on the basis of inter-se- merit in qualifying examination.
